Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force, revolutionising the way we work, and the accounting profession is no exception to this paradigm shift. Currently, the profession is faced with a wide range of challenges, including increasingly complex accounting standards, the convergence of emerging technologies, a shortage of skilled talent, and evolving regulatory requirements. In this context, AI can offer substantive opportunities to augment professional capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and enable greater focus on strategic work that require professional judgment, ethical reasoning, and human insight.
On 25 February 2026, the AFRC released a guide, “Embracing an AI-empowered future for the accounting profession”, to assist profession, particularly the SMPs, to navigate the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
